The Final Goodbye to the KING of Pop

At approximately 1:00 p.m. it became official. The KING of Pop is now officially gone to be with the KING himself. The Memorial service was not only broadcasted all over the television network, but there was also a live broadcast online. For about 90 minutes, the Jackson family invited viewers and a stadium full of strangers into their families lives and to share with them the homegoing of not only an ICON but a Child/Brother.

The memorial service began with the opening address from Smokie Robinson. For the duration of the memorial service, we were soothed and reminded of his legacy by guest speakers as well as performances from Jennifer Hudson, John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, Usher, and his brother, Jermaine Jackson. For most, a few tears shed in rememberance and sadness at the reality of this loss. One quote however continues to haunt my mind after the memorial service. Stevie Wonder states "this is one moment I wish I would not have lived to see".

This quote reminded me of how this man has trully touched the hearts and lives of many, including Stevie Wonder who has NEVER seen him. We all come into this lift with a birthdate but we are not guaranteed a death date. Death can come at any point so you have to cherish each day as your last.

Hollywood Vintage Fashion Show

Yesterday, alongside the CEO as well as other board members from Models Envied, I personally had the chance to experience the Hollywood Vintage Fashion Show. This fashion show was put on by Jarmal Harris of the Jarmal Harris Project, Inc. This event was a free event in which took place at the St. Augustine's Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. This event not only showcased local designers from the D.C. Metoropolitan Area but also showcased Jarmal Harris' fellow models from Xquisite Modeling Troupe.

Personally I enjoyed the show. The first thing I enjoyed was the fact that the show was free. In this economy, its often hard for people to afford admission with most shows being 15 + dollars (IN ADVANCE). Often times the turnout reflects the admission price...the show was almost Full. Secondly, I enjoyed the fact that the show was designed to reflect DESIGNERS. There are so many local and semi-local designers in the area and often go unnoticed. It is a breath of fresh air to see a show full of clothes from designers and very few from retail. Finally, I enjoyed the performance as well. The models were showcased, the designers were showcased, and then a local signer and dancer, Jermaine Harris (Jarmal's brother) and Anthony (Xquisite Model) executed an excellent performance.

..I personally would like to thank Jarmal Harris as well as the rest of the staff and models for giving me the opportunity to attend a postive and enjoyable show. Congrats again.
